Doesn't Not Compute

My log of experiences with GNU/Linux and computers in general.

Like watching paint dry….

Well, I’ve been working on one of those projects I mentioned last week — am I really that slow between posts?? — and it turned out to be a little more work than I expected. I decided on painting an “old” Compaq Deskpro EN business machine I had lying around blue and gold, the colors of the university I’ll be attending in a few weeks. If I redo the front and put on a few layers of clearcoat, it might look pretty decent.

But after doing some more research on paints, I’ve figured that I probably should have gotten ahold of some Krylon Fusion instead of just using regular spraypaint. If the machine was just going to sit in one spot all the time, and was unlikely to get scratched much, ordinary spraypaint would probably be fine. But since it’s going to be in a college dormroom…yeah, I think I’m going to go with the paint specifically designed for plastic. Good thing I have a second, identical machine. 🙂

Real life has interfered with some of the other items on the list, but I’ve found a few possiblities for a new banner. I’m not crazy about any of them, but with some work I might be happy with them. Stay tuned…
